چکیده
HE fact that a posttreatment can abolish the mutations induced by a mutaTgenic agent can furnish a tool for the study of the metabolic conditions that are necessary for the completion of processes that begin with the mutagenic treatment and lead finally to mutation (WITKIN 1956; DOUDNEY and HAAS 1958, 1960). Different agents can produce a decrease in the mutation frequency after UV treatment: visible light (KELNER 1949), chloramphenicol and, in general, conditions inhibiting protein synthesis ( WITKIN 1956), 5-hydroxyuridine (DOUDNEY and HAAS 1960), etc. This type of postirradiation response has also been found with ionizing radiations (KADA, BRUN and MARCOVICH 1960). MORPURGO and SERMONTI (1959) have shown that posttreatment with MnC1, of diploid conidia of Penicillium chrysogenum treated with nitrogen mustard (HN-2) produces reactivation of viability and diminishes induced somatic segregation. The period during which the HN-2 effects are reversible lasts several hours. The present report describes the effect of MnC1, on HN-2-induced mutation in a haploid strain of Penicillium chrysogenum and contains preliminary indications on the postincubation period that is necessary to make the mutations irreversible. Using the terminology of DOUDNEY and HAAS (1958) we have studied the process of “fixation” by means of the “MnCl, challenge” of a mutation induced by HN-2.

Reactivation by Manganous Chloride of Spores Inactivated by Nitrogen Mustard.
enon, photoreactivation, was later observed in several other organisms such as bacteriophages (DULBECCO 1950), bacteria and fungi of the genera Penicillium and Neurospora ( KELNER 1952). Reactivation of cells inactivated by ultraviolet irradiation was also obtained by means of pyruvic acid and other acids of the Krebs cycle (THOMPSON, MEFFERD and WYSS 1951; HEINMETS et al. 1954). متن کاملEffect of Sulfur Mustard Toxicity on FLT3-ITD Gene Mutation in Sulfur Mustard Veterans
Background: Sulfur mustard (SM) is a chemical blistering warfare that affects different organs especially hematopoietic system. Prevalence of acute myeloblastic and lymphoblastic leukemia is increased by sulfur mustard exposure. FLT3-ITD mutation can be effective on leukemogenesis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to verify the frequency of FLT3-ITD mutation in the patients who exposed to S...
متن کاملEvaluation of JAK2 (V617F) Mutation in Iranian Veterans with Delayed Complications of Sulphur Mustard Poisoning
Background: Sulfur mustard was the most widely applied chemical warfare agent by the Iraqi army in Iran–Iraq war (1983-1988). Considering the role of sulfur mustard toxicity in hematopoietic neoplasms and also new role of JAK2 mutation in these neoplasms, we assessed this mutation and delayed hematologic complications in veterans exposed to sulfur mustard. Methods: This case control st...
متن کاملAction of Manganous Chloride on Induced Somatic Segregation in Penicillium Chrysogenum Diploids.
ITROGEN mustard (HN-2), at doses which bring about almost total inactiNvation of the treated conidia, has a powerful stimulating effect on somatic segregation in some heterozygous Penicillium chrysogenum diploids (MORPURGO and SERMONTI 1959). On plating the surviving conidia, color marker segregants appear as yellow or white entire colonies, or yellow or white sectors emerging from the green ph...
متن کاملCompetition between Wild Mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Different rate of Nitrogen
To study the effects of applied nitrogen levels and wild mustard densities on the growth of wheat and wild mustard, a field experiment was conducted at Re-search and Experimental Field of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz-Iran. The effects of three nitrogen levels namely 90, 150 and 210 kg.ha-1 and four wild mustard densities such as 0, 5, 10 and 15 plants.m-2 were evaluated in split plot arrang...
